Deck Staining Contractors. For the Deck Staining Project you want.

A fantastic way to improve the longevity and enhance the beauty of your outdoor investment.  When you stain your deck you dramatically enhance the longevity, and you can always repeat staining it a few times over many years to make for VERY long lasting outdoor wood.

For deck and fence staining projects there are two types of stain bases to be aware of.  Water based, sits closer to the surface of the wood, giving light protection, easy soap and water cleanup, and quick dry times for quick project turnaround, meaning you can get back to enjoying your patio sooner.  Water based stains are a very low luster/Matte finish.

Oil based, penetrates deeper into the wood giving more durable protection versus waterborne acrylic stains.  Takes days to cure enough before you can walk on it and put furniture on it.  A natural property of oil based products is that they inheritantly have a bit of sheen to them, similar to a Satin sheen.  To see an overview glimpse of all the services we provide, navigate back to our home page for all our building painting options.

DECK STAINING FINISH TYPES, FOR THE LOOK YOU WANT AND THE PROTECTION YOU NEED.

Guide to deck staining transparencies

Clear stains.  These provide a light protective coating for when you want to maintain a look as close as possible to the natural look of the wood, but with the added protection from rain, snow and UV rays.  Economical to maintain, deck staining with clear stain will not crack, peel or flake off as it ages.  This means while the frequency of recoating is the highest, the preparation required between recoats is very minimal.  A power washing if the deck dirty, but no scraping of loose and peeling product like a solid stain would need.  Because clear stains also have very little pigment, you will see imperfections in the wood, and because these stains soak in to the wood, they aren’t slippery to walk on.  An overall fantastic light-duty armor protection for your deck, that enhances the look of the wood grain and you can expect to recoat every 2-3 years.

Semi Transparent to Semi Solid stains.  This is where most people like to have fun with their deck by adding some colour to it!  Choose from dozens of available colours, to match your style.  The higher pigment content provides for increased protection from the weather.  The added pigment also provides for hiding imperfections in the wood aswell.  Increased longevity, adding colour, while still being able to see the wood grain.  Expect 3 years between recoats.

Solid stain.  The look of a solid stain is like no other.  Choose from hundreds to thousands of available colours.  With the highest pigment content, solid stains provide an opaque look and will hide imperfections.  This product will protect the wood on your deck the longest and will be able to go the longest between recoats, because a solid stain sits on top of the wood.  As glorious as these look when kept up, this means it will be more slippery when wet, and as it ages it will eventually crack, peel and flake, requiring additional scraping of loose surface product between coats.  You still get the longest longevity and can expect 5-6 years between recoats.
